Mandate
Formulate measure in providing assistance and services that will alleviate poverty and empower disadvantaged individuals, families and communities for an improved quality of life. Develop plans and strategies and upon approval of the mayor, implement the same particularly those that have to do with the social welfare and program and projects.
In additional to the foregoing duties, the municipal social welfare and development officer shall:
a. Identify the basic need to needy, disadvantage and the impoverished. Develop and implement appropriate measured to alleviate their problems and improve their living conditions.
b. Provide relief and appropriate crisis intervention for victims of abuse and exploitation and recommend appropriate measure to deter further abuse and exploitation.
c. Assist the mayor in implementation of barangay level program for the total development and protection of children.
d. Facilitate the implementations of welfare programs for the disable, elderly, victims of drug addiction, rehabilitation of child delinquency and such other activities, which will eliminate or minimized the ill effects of poverty.
e. Initiate and support youth welfare programs that will enhance the role of youth in nation building.
f. Coordinate the government agencies and non-government organizations for the purpose, promotions and protection of all needy, disadvantage, under privileges, impoverished groups or individuals, particularly to those identified vulnerable to exploitation, abuse and neglect.
